New Internship Program

Springtime is always a breath of fresh air. The snow has completely melted away, the rain has stopped, and the flowers have blossomed. This weather motivates many people around the world to get out and do something with their lives and it can motivate you, too! If you’re running a business, then maybe it’s time to try something new. One of those new additions to your company can be a new internship program.

THE ART OF SPRING CLEANING

Before you start an internship program it’s extremely important to make sure your company foundation is solid. It would be hard to guide and motivate new people if there is chaos going on, so now is the perfect time to organize yourself and your business!

Here are a few questions to think about… Do you need to change anything in your company? Are there practices or procedures you could improve? Are you keeping up with important documents and financial records? Is the company culture welcoming and productive? Once you’re satisfied with the answers to those questions, then you’re on the right track to successfully start a new internship program.

STAY ONE STEP AHEAD WITH A NEW INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

If you get started on this program in the spring, by summer you should see the benefits of it. Find out what resources you have within your company and use those to build a team of interns. You’ll need people that will be able to supervise and train the interns. You’ll also need to do some research to figure out what will attract your preferred intern to your company.

Doing some research about your ideal interns is very important because in the future it will help narrow down applicants. Once you’ve done all your research and made sure your company is ready for an internship program, then you can continue on to planning.

PLANNING AND TAKING ACTION

By this time, you’ve realized that summer is around the corner. At this point, you may need to go back to the drawing board to prepare unless of course, you’ve got everything figured out already. But just in case you don’t, then think about the logistics. What will the compensation be and how long will the program last? Once you’ve figured that out, then you’re pretty much good to go. Now you can post about your new internship program online and begin the process of evaluating and hiring candidates.
