Who can stop bullying from happening in the workplace

The answer to the question who can stop bullying in your company is pretty simple. The answer is YOU can be the one who prevents this issue in your workplace. There are many ways you can make sure that your company is a bully-free environment. Some examples are
• Having an employee team building day.
• Have a seminar on company expectations
• Make sure you have company policies that protect all your employees and that they agree to them.
• Have your employees go on a company retreat.

Those are only some suggestions there are other things you can do to ensure a safe, and productive workplace.

Important things to keep in mind

One other thing that you need to keep in mind is the CEO or manager of this company, it is your job to help make sure that all the employees are working in a productive and positive manner. One thing you can do about this problem is having all the employees that came forward about the bullying and the person doing the bullying come to your office.

After everyone has shown up have each person tell their side of the story.  When everyone has had a chance to speak without interruption,  have a third party come in and have them draw up a contract that they all agree to.  Once the contract has been drawn up make sure that everyone is on the same page and there is no miscommunication.

What else can you do about this

As a few weeks or months go by have them check in with you and see if anything has changed.  If the victims report to you or someone else reports to you that the bully broke the contract then more action needs to be taken.  Have the bully come into your office and firmly tell them that if they break it again they will be fired. If the behavior doesn’t stop then you need to follow through and fire them.  By firing them you are showing other employees in your company that you take issues seriously and that you mean business. Remember it is great to have employees like you but you also need to make sure that they respect you.

You have the power to stop bullying in your company.  If you or someone you know is going through this issue at work speak up and tell someone.  For more information go to Workplace Bullying Institute.
